Laundry Manual

First thing to know:
You can ONLY use the washing system if you are a User or Member of the KaWoEins e.V.
If you have not handed in the application for a user or membership so far, you will have to do so first. Therefore download the application form here, fill it in and drop it in the KaWoEins e.V. mail box (Kastanienweg 4, lower left mail box).

What you need to do in order to do your laundry:
Make sure, that you can login on the KaWoEins homepage (www.kawo1.rwth-aachen.de). You will need your username and your password (from the „Netz-AG“ or from the KaWoEins e.V.). On the bottom left side of the homepage you will see an "Account" button. There you can see your account balance and book your laundry reservations. If you have not paid any money into your account yet, you will need to do this first.
Go to one of the office hours of Netzwerkgruppe, Telefon AG or Waschmaschinen AG and pay money into your account. The consulting times can be found on the webpages of different teams.

If you log in on the KaWoEins homepage now, you can see your account balance. Please make sure, that you always have some money on your account in case you want to do your laundry spontaneously or if a consultation-hour is canceled or postponed.

If you push the “Account” button, there will be another button named “Waschtermine”. There you can see which laundry reservations are free, which can be booked and which are already booked (how to book a laundry reservation see below). You can also see your PIN number there.
This is your personal PIN number. It will not change and should not be handed on to somebody else!!!
The KaWoEins e.V. will not be responsible for any charges that arise from PIN number abuse, unless it is the KaWoEins e.V.'s fault. If you ever need a new PIN, please contact the system administrator of the “Netzwerkgruppe”.

If you have booked a laundry reservation you can put your clothes in the washing machine at the booked time. You need to type in your personal PIN number on the keypad.
If the PIN number is correct and you have booked your reservation at this time, you can now push the start button on the washing machine to start washing.
If you have entered your PIN number and then mistakenly opened the washing machine's door thereafter, just close the door and start the washing machine once again. Account debit only effects 10 minutes after the start of your reservation, if the machine has been started within this time.

How does the booking system work?

The booking system distinguishes four different kinds of laundry reservations:

green: personal laundry reservation
blue: This laundry reservation can be booked.
black: This laundry reservation is booked by somebody. It can be booked by somebody else for a short period of time if the laundry reservation is released.
The laundry reservation is released 10 min. after the regular reservation time, if the person has not started the washing machine at this time. For the next 5 min. everyone can take over this reservation. From now on the “new booker” has another 5 min. to fill the washing machine with his/her clothes, type in his/her PIN number and start the washing machine.
If someone fails to do this in the given time, he/she does not have to pay for the laundry reservation.

transparent: The laundry reservation  is in the past or it is booked obligatory.
The washing machine can be booked obligatory between 10 min. before the start of the reservation and 10 min. after it. If you have booked this reservation before.
If the washing machine is booked obligatory, the laundry reservation will not be released. The booking person can fill and start the washing machine for a duration of 20 min. But you must pay for the laundry reservation in this case (it doesn't matter if you use the laundry reservation for washing or not).

An obligatory booked laundry reservation is not released for everybody and will be paid for by the obligatory booking person!

How to book a laundry reservation?

Check your account balance. As a User you have to pay 1.50 Euro for washing, as a Member it is 1 Euro.
Choose the house in which you want to do your laundry. Click “anzeigen” to confirm your choice.

Choose a laundry reservation.
If your previously booked laundry reservation will start in less than 10 min. or has already started booking is obligatory. You will pay for this reservation for sure (it doesn't matter if you use it or not).

If you book a laundry reservation, that already runs for up to 10 min. or if you take over somebody's reservation, your booking is not obligatory. You will only pay for this reservation if you start the washing machine.

If you book a laundry reservation more than 10 min. before it will start, your booking is not obligatory as well. But the laundry reservation will be released 10 min. after it starts, if you do not start the washing machine. Everyone can take over your reservation. Even if the PIN number panel is active for 20 min. after the laundry reservation starts, it may happen that you can not type in your PIN number in order to start the washing machine. Somebody else has taken over your laundry reservation and his/her PIN then starts the washing machine.
(How to avoid this, please read No. 5)

Note: Even if money is debited from your account when you book your laundry reservation, you will only pay if you start the washing machine or if you book the reservation obligatory. In other cases (e.g. if you do not use you laundry reservation) the money will be paid back into your account.

Use your laundry reservation in time.
20 min. after the laundry reservation starts, the PIN panel will deactivate. You cannot start  the washing machine anymore. This will avoid washing longer than the laundry reservation lasts.
If you have booked a laundry reservation before and you know, that you want to use this reservation for sure, you can book your laundry reservation obligatory. You can only do this between 10 min. before and 10 min. after the regular start. You have 20 min. time to fill and start the washing machine then. Nobody else can take over your laundry reservation.
Please click on the button “verbindlich Buchen” on top of the booking page.
Be aware: You will pay for this reservation for sure (it doesn't matter if you use it or not).

If you realize that you will not be able to use a regular (not obligatory booked) laundry reservation  then please cancel it!
Somebody else can then use the laundry reservation.

If you want to cancel a laundry reservation just click on the booked machine (it should be green) and hit the “ok” button. This has no negative effects on you. You money will be paid back on your account and you will be able to book another laundry reservation.

You cannot cancel obligatory booked laundry reservations!

Washing restrictions:

You can book a total of 4 laundry reservations a week. On the booking page you can see how many laundry reservations you have booked so far for the week. Not obligatory booked, not used laundry reservations do not count.
Note: The booking page will show all laundry reservations you have booked in the last 7 days. But determining whether you can book another laundry reservation is the total number of laundry reservations you have had between sunday and sunday of two following weeks.
